Iconic British chain Pret A Manger will be closing their two Shanghai locations this Saturday, after a five-year run at the China market.

Pret A Manger’s Shanghai Locations

Pret A Manger opened their first store in the K11 shopping mall in 2014, following a second location at the basement of the Jing An Kerry Centre in May 2016. The K11 store eventually closed, and they opened one in IFC, Pudong.

Last day of operations for both Jing An Kerry Centre and IFC locations will be this Friday.

A statement from their PR representatives reads as follows:

After thorough consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close our two Pret shops in Shanghai at the end of 2018. This will allow us to focus investment in Hong Kong, where we currently have 27 shops and see great potential for growth.

We are most grateful to our customers and suppliers for their support of the business, and to our Shanghai team for their hard work and commitment. We will do everything we can to help them find new opportunities in the coming months.
