Caminetto is a modern Italian restaurant by chef-operator Kelvin Chai. Kelvin previously worked at Mercato by Jean Georges for many years before opening his own spot in August 2020. Here, he does elevated Italian cuisine, speckled with a bit of Asian flair and flavors, with a homestyle approach. The restaurant is located at The Roof in Xintiandi and provides an inviting atmosphere and modern space with a cozy dining area and an open kitchen. There’s also an adjacent bar and a semi-private room.

Signature dishes at Caminetto include the handmade pappardelle with slow-braised beef ragu, the oven-baked branzino with rosemary and garlic, and the rich tiramisu made with mascarpone and espresso. The menu features a wide range of antipasti, pastas, and wood-fired pizzas. Good wine list.
